Intro: These are awesome snakes so I was thrilled to find a few not too far from my house. Started my own, albeit, not very scientific study... as follows.

After a surprising copperhead find under a pile of cedar shingles in a field in 2008...

I decided to set up a board line to see how many I could find in 2009.

First time out in May, under board #2.

Next time out in the beginning of June under board #4.

Then again the end of June...same board after heavy rains.

Still searching the nearby area for the den, it has eluded me thus far. Winter is for scouting right?

    One of my favorite snakes...

Is and will always be my favorite snake by far...maybe this year we'll make it more scientific and find the den down to the very crevice;)

I will be going up within the next few weeks to set up a board line closer to the cliffs Found some great slides but still more needs to be explored.
