Waited the weather out and was rewarded with a decent day after all. Seen five TR, some gravid to confirm a rookery. 1 black racer spotted by the WCO that went with, 2 wood frogs, 2 toads, and 1 garter snake. Had a decent Saturday last week with the S.E. TR team leader, confirmed another site despite weather not coperating. Going tommorrow, hopefully with more luck. Anyone else getting any herping in?

I made two quick stops last night and today not much around but some duskys and a ravine. I am in search of a Allegheny County Two-Lined Salamander. Not exciting I know, but I saw that I do not have a record for one so I have a little goal. Has to be common enough to find quickly, but 4 streams later still no luck.

MemberI didn't have too bad a day despite the weather. Stopped at a few areas I have been to before but never really investigated. Found the regulars (greens frogs, redback salamanders, enough worms to start my own farm). And this little toad which has me a little perplexed. I have had the book out and looked at many photos on the net... it has the grouped warts like a Fowlers toad, the light line down its back and the spot on its chest but it has very dark coloration. Can a fowlers toad be this dark or am I way off the mark again?

And a fisherman had pitty on me today after watching me sadly doing laps around the lake seeking the turtles who were just not out and offered some information on some new ponds... tomorrow is looking up for me :-) (and I hope for everyone else too).

Kyle might can ring in on the toad. I have found A. Toads similar in color. You have a shot of the ventral?
Cooler weather coming in, herping should be picking back up some more. ;-)

American. To many other blotches on the belly it looks like. I do think fowler's would only have a dot and nothing else. I have never seen fowler's in person though, so I can not go off experience, just the books a photos on the net.

MemberThanks for the ID. Sadly the more resources I have access to the worse my ID's get. And I have learned my lesson .... NEVER predict your luck on any day.

Just an update. I found my Allegheny Co. Two-lined Salamander. Actually three in a spot I checked a month ago with no luck.
